History

Founded in 2007 and based in Toronto, Canada, Riverbank Power was a developer of a portfolio of 1,000 MW pumped storage hydro generation facilities in North America. Most of its projects involve an innovative underground design known as Aquabank™. This new approach is not restricted by topography and allows for this valuable source of generation to be located closer to load centres on the right side of transmission congestion. This innovative form of alternative energy production also represents a unique and environmentally responsible way for North Americans to ensure an affordable, secure and reliable self-sufficient supply of energy while creating significant and sustainable local economic development.

Riverbank’s wholly-owned subsidiary Symbiotics Energy Corp. was founded in 2001 as a joint venture between Ecosystems Research Institute and Northwest Power Services. Recognizing that low-impact hydroelectric power represents an untapped and promising source of growth in the renewable energy sector of North America, they develop new hydroelectric projects which make good business sense and promote sound environmental practices.

Riverbank’s principals have over 30 years of experience in selection, permitting, construction, financing and operation of renewable and traditional energy projects. We currently have active projects in different regions of the North and South America, and plan to add to the portfolio as opportunities present themselves.
