Newburgh Lock and Dam Hydroelectric Project

The Newburgh Locks and Dam is located on the Ohio River 16 miles upstream from the city of Evansville, Indiana. Construction began in 1966 and was completed in 1975 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Currently the facility provides improved in-stream navigation and recreation opportunities.

The Newburgh Locks and Dam Hydroelectric Project would operate in run-of-river mode. Using three turbine/generator units, the proposed project will have installed capacity of 56.7 MW.  In April of 2011, a License Application was filed with the FERC.
