Hon. David R. Peterson, P.C., Q.C., C.ST. J., D’H., D.U., L.

Chairman of Riverbank Power Corp.

Mr. Peterson is a senior partner and Chairman of the Toronto law firm of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP. He served as Premier of the Province of Ontario from 1985 to 1990. Mr. Peterson earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Toronto. He also studied abroad at the University of Caen, France. He was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1969, appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 1980, and summoned by Her Majesty to the Privy Council in 1992. His career in government began in 1975, when he was elected as a Member of the Ontario Legislature, and he became the leader of the Ontario Liberal party in 1982. He served as Premier of the Province between 1985 and 1990, overseeing a very active period of reform and playing a major role in the country’s constitutional discussions. Since leaving the premiership, Mr. Peterson has continued his career of distinguished public service. He was the chairman of the Commonwealth Team observing the 1992 elections in Guyana, and he is chief federal negotiator for the devolution of the Northwest Territories. In addition, He speaks frequently on national and international issues and appears on television as a commentator. Mr. Peterson also continues to make major contributions to the academic and civic life of Ontario.   He is Chancellor of the University of Toronto, director of St. Michael’s Hospital, and an adjunct professor at York University. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Ottawa, the University of Tel Aviv, the American University of the Caribbean and the University of Toronto. In 1994 the government of France appointed him a Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honour of France. In 1995 the International Assembly of French-Speaking Parliamentarians presented him with the Ordre de la Pléiade. Mr. Peterson’s contributions in the area of business are also significant and substantial. He was Founding Chairman of Chapters and the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club, and he is a director of a number of public companies including Rogers Communications Inc., Ivanhoe Cambridge, Industrielle-Alliance Life Assurance Company and PNP Parabas (Canada). Mr. Peterson resides in Toronto and Caledon with his actress/author wife Shelley. They have three children - Benjamin, Chloë and Adam. Mr. Peterson’s interests include theatre, riding, jogging, golf, skiing, tennis, scuba diving, reading and gardening.

John M. Boyd, P.Eng., PhD

Director

Mr. Boyd is the President of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers and serves as Vice President, Operations of Golder Associates. Mr. Boyd’s career at Golder has spanned thirty-three years, much of the time in senior management positions. Mr. Boyd is a graduate of the University of Toronto (B.A.Sc., Geological Engineering, 1966 and M.A.Sc., Structural Geology, 1967), the University of London (D.I.C., Structural Geology and Rock Mechanics, 1970) and the Imperial College (Ph.D., Engineering and Rock Mechanics, 1976). Mr. Boyd has participated as a Director in several of the Boards of companies in the Golder group, has also served as a Director (and later Chairman) of the Waterloo Centre for Groundwater Research, a Member of the Faculty Advisory Board of McGill University Engineering Faculty, a Director and Chairman of the Association of Consulting Engineers Canada, and a Director and subsequently President of Peel Red Cross. Mr. Boyd was recently Chair of the Steering Committee of an HRDC  program to encourage young people to study engineering at university. Mr. Boyd has been focusing in recent years on business and management training of engineers both within Golder and externally, and he also has a particular interest in sustainable development. He was responsible for the FIDIC Sustainable Development Task Force that developed a system of sustainability indicators for engineering project use on behalf of FIDIC's 79 member countries, which included as participants Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Kingdoms of the Netherlands and Denmark, South Africa, and Japan. The guidelines for the use of the system (Project Sustainability Management) were published in September 2004, and Mr. Boyd has been busy training diverse groups of engineers around the world in their application.

Keith Lord, MBA, BSc.

Director

After a successful Wall Street career as an investment banker focusing on the power sector, Mr. Lord, a published author of short fiction, retired in 2005 from Lehman Brothers Inc. to write a novel. Mr. Lord’s distinguished career in the banking industry is a tale of the two capitals of western finance, London and New York City.  Mr. Lord holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Columbia University. As Co-Head of Mergers and Acquisitions  for the worldwide power team at Lehman from 1997 to 2005, Mr. Lord was responsible for senior level relationship development, new business initiation and transaction execution. Promoted to Managing Director at 31, Mr. Lord executed over $100 billion of M&A, restructuring and financing transactions for clients such as MidAmerican Energy, Dominion Resources, TXU Corp., AES Corp., Xcel Energy, FPL Group, Constellation Energy, Entergy Corp., Southern Company and Sierra Pacific Resources. Previous to his work at Lehman, Mr. Lord worked at Wasserstein Perella & Co. Inc. and Salomon Brothers Inc. in New York City. Previous to his move to New York City, Mr. Lord worked at Coopers & Lybrand and County NatWest Limited in London, England. Mr. Lord serves as a Senior Advisor to Evercore Partners, the New York investment banking firm. He is a British and American citizen and is married with two children. Mr. Lord resides in Weston, Connecticut.

John Douglas, CA, CBV

Director

Mr. Douglas is the founder, President and CEO of Riverbank Power Corp. He is also the CEO and founder of Douglas Capital Inc. where he is responsible for the principal investing activity at the firm. Mr. Douglas is also the co-founder and a Director of Transmission Developers Inc. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Economics at the University of Waterloo in 1985. Until recently, Mr. Douglas served as the President and CEO of Ventus Energy Inc. a company which he co-founded in 2004 to develop wind farms in Canada. In 2007, Ventus was acquired by Suez Energy for $200 million, and Mr. Douglas was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of wind development for Suez Renewable Energy North America. Mr. Douglas has now left the wind industry to pursue new investment opportunities. Prior to founding Douglas Capital Inc. in 2002, Mr. Douglas was Co-Head of Investment Banking, Senior Vice President and Director at Canaccord Capital in Toronto. Prior to his time at Canaccord, John was a Senior Vice President and Director in the Investment Banking group at Sprott Securities Inc. (now Cormark Securities Inc.), Canada's leading small-to-mid capitalization investment bank. Mr. Douglas joined Sprott in 1996 and participated in the employee buy-out of the majority ownership position from its founder Eric Sprott in 2000. While at Sprott, he served as a member of Sprott's Steering and Risk Committees. Before coming to Sprott, Mr. Douglas worked as a manager in the Corporate Finance Group at Price Waterhouse in Toronto. For almost three years, he managed valuation assignments, acquisition and sale mandates, private placements, restructurings and due diligence for national and international clients.  His first foray into the banking industry came when he took a job upon graduation with Ernst & Young in Toronto. During this time, he managed audit and advisory services for some of the firm’s largest Canadian clients. Mr. Douglas is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator.

Donald Jessome, MBA, P. Eng 

Director

Mr. Jessome is President and CEO of Transmission Developers Inc, and along with John Douglas is a co-founder.  Mr. Jessome is also President and CEO of TDI US Holdings Corp (THUC) a wholly owned subsidiary of Transmission Developers Inc, and Maine Power Express, LLC also a majority owned subsidiary of THUC.  He earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (currently referred to as Dalhousie University) in 1987 and his Masters of Business Administration, with Distinction, from Saint Mary’s University in 1999. 

Mr. Jessome spent his entire career in the energy field starting with 22 years at Emera Inc., a publicly traded company in Canada with $5.3 Billion in energy infrastructure assets centered on power and natural gas.  Mr. Jessome has worked in a broad range of areas while at Emera including Transmission & Distribution Operations and Construction, Integrated System Planning, System Operations, Generation Operations and Fuel Procurement, Marketing and Sales, and most recently Director of Asset Optimization and Power Trading for Emera Energy Inc a wholly owned non-regulated trading and asset Optimization Company of Emera Inc.  During this tenure Mr. Jessome has sat on numerous advisory boards including his membership as one of the inaugural members of the NBSO Market Advisory Committee and a founding member of the CEA Power Marketing Committee.  Mr. Jessome has extensive knowledge of the power markets in the North East including ISO-NE, NYISO, IESO, TransEnergie, NBSO, and PJM through his extensive marketing and trading experience with both the regulated and non-regulated business at Emera.

Prior to co-founding Transmission Developers Inc, Mr. Jessome joined the Riverbank Power in 2008 as the Vice-President of Marketing and Trading to assist Riverbank Power develop its commercialization strategy for its 1,000MW underground pump-storage technology referred to as Aquabanktm.  This commercialization strategy included the development of economic models and programs for the sale of energy, capacity and renewable attributes for both the regulated and competitive based energy markets that Aquabanktm is currently developing sites.
