Testimonials
State of Maine
"The State of Maine is a leader in the development of renewable and sustainable energy generation. We have committed to substantially increase the installed capacity of electricity generation from renewable sources including wind and tidal. Riverbank Power's 1,000 MW pump storage energy facility being developed in Wiscasset is a perfect example of the sort of privately funded economic development opportunity that will help the State of Maine achieve its stated energy objectives. These objectives include energy independence while addressing climate change. We know that Riverbank has made a significant investment already in Maine and is diligently working to continue evaluating the suitability of the site in Wiscasset and to obtain the appropriate environmental permits. I firmly believe that the development of storage capability is an integral part of growing our portfolio of intermittent renewable generation such as wind and tidal. "

"The Riverbank Wiscasset Energy Center Project has generated a great deal of encouragement and interest in the Town of Wiscasset and the Maine mid-coast region.
The Riverbank Project explores an innovative idea in utilizing the ocean for structural energy and presents an exceptional academic opportunity to discover this relationship.
Taken together, many people have expressed their support to the understanding, political and organizational factors to shape the development of this project.
The successful magnitude of the Riverbank Wiscasset Energy Center Project would add to employment changes in Maine. New types of jobs would evolve; former residents would return home to work and new residents would live in our neighborhoods.
This alternative energy project is also an ideal reuse of the former Maine Yankee land and can benefit from its existing and underutilized energy infrastructure.
It is hoped that the framework of federal and state policy will help shape the investment decisions for this project and that the permitting process not be too complex. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance to state-level clearinghouses and federal regulatory agencies. Town officials are prepared to assist the Riverbank team in any way we can for the good of Wiscasset and the State of Maine." (Click here for PDF)
