Also known as the John T. Meyers Locks and Dam, Uniontown Lock and Dam is located on the Ohio River three miles downstream from the community of Uniontown, Kentucky. Construction began in 1965 and was completed in 1977 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Currently the facility provides improved in-stream navigation and recreation opportunities.
On behalf of Uniontown Hydro LLC, Symbiotics began state and federal licensing for a run-of-river hydroelectric project on John T. Meyers Locks and Dam. Using three turbine/generator units, the proposed project will have an installed capacity of 66.7 MW. In April 2011, a License Application was filed with the FERC.
