Wickiup Dam is located on the Deschutes River in Deschutes County, just west of La Pine Oregon. The dam was completed by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1949 and is operated by the North Unit Irrigation District. The dam and Wickiup Reservoir are managed for the purposes of irrigation, recreation, fish and wildlife, and scenic resources.
The licensing process for the Wickiup Dam Hydroelectric Project began in 2008. The project would have an installed capacity of 7.15 MW from one turbine/generator unit and produce 21.15 GWh annually. In March 2011, a Final License Application was filed with the FERC.
